MCA Proficiency in Medical Care is an intensive course in taking observations of the survivor, and training in practical skills and use of medications for persons in charge of medical care Cat A stores over 150 miles offshore. It is offered as a commercial and leisure users course.

MCA Proficiency In Medical Care 5 Day Course Includes:

  • Obtaining TMAS
  • Casualty – Primary and secondary survey
  • Advanced life support inc use of Bag Valve Mask with use of oxygen and AED
  • Signs and symptoms and first aid for trauma and medical problems inc Hypothermia and Drowning, and Shock

  • Patient Treatment inc Observations, administration of medications, Injections, IV fluids and Suturing
    Catheterisation

  • Infectious diseases

  • Childbirth

  • Log keeping – Medical report scenarios and treatment

  • Care of the dying

  • Informing Port Authorities

  • Casualty handling and evacuation

  • Use of St Johns First Aid Manual,MFAG and Ship Captains Medical Guide

  • Use of MSN1905 amm2 Medical Stores (specific Cat A)
